In May 2020, I was invited as a guest to Evdeki Yaratıcılar (Creators at Home), a live conversation series organized by Bigumigu and ATÖLYE. The series was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to continue bringing together artists and creative practitioners while everyone was staying at home.
Bigumigu has been hosting the Yeni Yaratıcılar (New Creatives) event series since January 2018, inviting artists and creatives who produce original and inspiring work. When the pandemic made physical gatherings impossible, the team decided to pause the in-person events and create a new format called Evdeki Yaratıcılar. In this series, artists and creators were invited to join Instagram Live conversations to share their work and creative processes during the lockdown period.
The second session of the series took place on May 6th, featuring me as the guest. During the live conversation with Bigumigu’s co-founder and editor-in-chief Yalçın Pembecioğlu, we talked about my project Together Alone, which explored experiences of solitude during the pandemic. For this project, I interviewed and photographed 21 people who were also spending the lockdown alone, connecting with them through video calls and documenting their daily routines and personal reflections.
The conversation also focused on how the pandemic reshaped my daily life and creative practice, as well as the possibilities of producing photography within the constraints of home and digital communication.
The event was broadcast live on the Bigumigu and ATÖLYE Instagram accounts, bringing together audiences interested in photography, creativity, and new ways of storytelling during an unprecedented time.
